🏨 The Hyatt Expiration Trap That Almost Cost Someone Two Free Nights

Here's a genuinely useful warning that came out of a real situation this weekend - and if you have any World of Hyatt free night certificates sitting in your account, you need to read this.

The expiration date shown in the 'My Awards' section of your Hyatt account is not necessarily the last day you can use the certificate. In at least one documented case, a certificate showing a specific expiration date actually needed to be used the day before - meaning someone almost lost two Hyatt free nights because they trusted the date on the screen.

What's Actually Going On

The issue appears to be tied to time zones and how Hyatt processes end-of-day expirations on their back end. A certificate that shows as valid through, say, July 31st may actually expire in the system earlier than midnight in your local time zone.

The safe move: treat the displayed expiration date as the day BEFORE your actual last day to use the cert. Book a night or make a reservation that uses the certificate at least one full day before the date you see in your account. 💳 Chase Sapphire Preferred at 100,000 Points - Still One of the Best Starter Offers

The Chase Sapphire Preferred's 100,000-point welcome bonus is still live, and the timing is particularly good right now. Those 100K Ultimate Rewards points are worth at least $2,000 in travel through Chase Travel, or potentially more when transferred to partners like Hyatt, United, or Virgin Atlantic.
