You Now Need Points Just To Search

This one is worth paying close attention to. Singapore Airlines has started blocking KrisFlyer members with a zero balance from using its standard award search engine. No official rule was published. No policy page was updated. Members are simply hitting a wall when they try to search.

The workaround that appears to restore access? Transfer at least 1,000 points into your KrisFlyer account. That's it. Once points are in the account, the search functionality returns. Calling Singapore Airlines or using the limited Flight Recommender tool are imperfect alternatives - neither gives you the full flexibility of the main search engine.

What To Do Right Now

If you hold Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, or Capital One miles, you can transfer a small batch to KrisFlyer to unlock access. Keep in mind that transfers to airline programs are generally one-way and non-reversible, so only move points you were planning to use there anyway.
