Air France and KLM's Flying Blue program announced yesterday that it's introducing a new three-tier award structure: Light, Standard, and Flex. The tiers mirror what you'd find on revenue fares, meaning the cheapest award inventory gets the Light price, mid-range availability gets Standard pricing, and flexible tickets land in the Flex tier at the highest cost.

The framing sounds reasonable enough on paper. In practice, it almost certainly means that the famous 60,000-mile round-trip business class deal from the US to Europe - the one that made Flying Blue a household name in points circles - is going to become much harder to find at that price point. The best availability will now carry higher Flex pricing, while Light awards (at the low end) will be scarce.

Here's the urgency: Citi ThankYou Rewards is running a 20% transfer bonus to Flying Blue that ends this Saturday. If you've been sitting on Citi points and have had your eye on an Air France or KLM business class booking, this weekend may be your last best chance to move those points before the new tiered pricing takes full effect and potentially prices out that sweet spot permanently.

The math shifts meaningfully. A 20% bonus on a transfer means every 50,000 Citi points becomes 60,000 Flying Blue miles. That's the exact amount needed for a round-trip business class ticket - if you can still find Light inventory. Our transfer bonuses tracker has the full details on timing.

Award Travel Finder has been flagging transatlantic business class availability regularly - worth checking there before you commit to a transfer direction.

Flying Blue is still a genuinely useful program, and the Citi bonus expiring this Saturday makes this a real decision point. If a transatlantic business class booking is on your horizon, search for availability now, then decide whether to transfer before Saturday. After the new tiers fully roll out, the calculus on how many points you actually need may change significantly.

This one is genuinely time-sensitive. Alaska Atmos Rewards is currently running a 100% bonus on purchased miles, and it ends tonight - the send date for this newsletter. If you've been on the fence about stocking up, today is the day to decide.

Alaska miles are genuinely underrated. Frequent Miler just spent an episode breaking down the pros and cons of the Atmos Rewards program, and the sweet spots are real: short-haul US flights, intra-Alaska routes, US to Oceania and Asia, and solid partner access beyond just oneworld. Free stopovers on one-way awards and free award changes round out the value case nicely.

Don't buy miles speculatively just because the bonus is big - but if you have a specific Alaska or partner redemption in mind, tonight's deadline is real. This offer does not roll over.

Avianca's LifeMiles program just launched a new purchase promotion offering up to a 145% bonus on bought miles. At the top tier, that works out to roughly 1.35 cents per mile - which sounds expensive until you remember what LifeMiles can actually do.

LifeMiles is one of the best currencies for booking Star Alliance business and first class - particularly on airlines like Lufthansa, Swiss, and ANA - often at prices significantly below what those carriers charge through their own programs. If you've been eyeing a long-haul premium redemption on a Star Alliance carrier and you're short on miles, this bonus makes the math worth running.

Also worth noting: Capital One Miles currently transfer to Avianca LifeMiles with a 15% bonus, ending August 31. That means if you have Capital One miles sitting around, you can move them over at a bonus and avoid buying at all - or use both levers together to top up a specific itinerary.

At 1.35 cents per mile, buying LifeMiles makes sense only if you have a specific premium redemption in mind that would otherwise cost you more out of pocket. Run the numbers on your target route before pulling the trigger. The Capital One transfer bonus to Avianca runs through August 31 and is worth considering first.

Starlux Airlines' COSMILE program just started selling miles directly to consumers for the first time ever. The headline price is eye-watering - four cents per mile - which is objectively bad by almost any standard benchmark. We typically flag anything above 1.5 cents per mile as speculative territory.

But here's the angle that makes this interesting: Starlux operates one of the most praised first class products in Asia, and COSMILE redemptions for that cabin can represent genuinely outsized value. If you're specifically targeting a Starlux first class ticket and you're short on miles, paying four cents per mile for a product that would otherwise cost several thousand dollars in cash might actually pencil out. It's a narrow use case, but it's a real one.

Don't buy Starlux COSMILE miles speculatively. But if Starlux first class is specifically on your bucket list and you need a top-up, this is now an option that didn't exist before. Worth bookmarking for when the right opportunity appears - and worth watching for promotional pricing that could make the math more favorable.

If you're planning a luxury cruise and have any interest in hotel status, this is worth a few minutes of your time. Regent Seven Seas - one of the better luxury cruise lines on the market - has a partnership with GHA Discovery that delivers surprisingly real value: booking a Regent cruise earns GHA Discovery credits, which can convert into free nights and status across a range of boutique and independent hotels worldwide.

GHA Discovery is an often-overlooked program, but it covers hundreds of properties globally and the status tiers come with genuine perks. If you're booking a Regent cruise anyway, leaving these credits on the table would be a mistake. The GHA Discovery Status Match program is also currently live for those who want to leverage existing hotel status into the network.

Bilt doesn't get enough credit for its welcome offers. The three-card lineup - Blue, Obsidian, and Palladium - each comes with distinct welcome bonuses, with the Palladium reaching up to 50,000 Bilt points. That's meaningful currency given how flexible Bilt points are: transfers to Hyatt, American, United, and several airline and hotel partners at 1:1 ratios.

For renters especially, Bilt is worth a hard look. The ability to earn points on rent payments - typically a spend category that earns nothing on any other card - makes the math fundamentally different from any other rewards card in the market.

The answer is: 60,000 miles round-trip in Business Class. That's the sweet spot that made Flying Blue one of the most-discussed programs for transatlantic premium travel. The new tiered pricing announced yesterday puts exactly this redemption level at risk - which is why the Citi transfer bonus expiring this Saturday carries more urgency than usual.
